Part III: Reading Comprehension Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions from 26 to 30. If you ever complain about being unlucky, you might consider yourself lucky you’re not Roy Sullivan. He was arguably the unluckiest man in the world. Roy’s only person in his village not to buy a ticket in the Spanish Christmas lottery. When they won first prize, everyone except Roy received a share of the €300 million jackpot. He received a meagre personal present of just €600 from the man in his village that Christmas. But there are other contenders. For example, US park ranger Roy Sullivan was even unluckier. He was once hit by lightning seven times. In 1983, his wife left him. Later that year, as he was driving his car, he was struck by lightning again. He swerved, hit another car and broke his leg. John Lyne, who is perhaps the most unfortunate of all. At school, he fell out of a tree and broke his arm. As an adult, he had three car crashes on the same day. The older he got, the worse things became. He’s been run over, nearly drowned and had a car crash. John’s bad luck has been so consistent that the local newspaper has published an article about him. He doesn’t think he’s unlucky. As far as he’s concerned, none of his accidents could have been avoided. But as he says, he may actually be the world’s luckiest man!
